Yes, I'm sure ya'll have heard about it, because it is getting very popular in the YA world! I'll let you in on a little secret as to why that is: IT'S FREAKING AWESOME AND I LOVE IT AND YOU SHOULD READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So yes, on with the review. :P
From the very first PAGE, I knew that this book was going to be an amazing book. The main character is an assassin, so that bumps up the coolness level! Also, to prepare you for this book: there are literally a gazillion ships in this series, so...the fandom can get a little weird. XD With all the romance, betrayal, murder, mystery, fantasy, awesome characters and handsome men(lol), this is a must-read!
The summary from the inside of the cover that I own:
"When magic has gone from the world, and a vicious king rules from his throne of glass, an assassin comes to the castle. She does not come to kill, but to win her freedom. If she can defeat twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition to find the greatest assassin in the land, she will become the King's Champion and be released from prison.
"Her name is Celaena Sardothien.
"The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her.
"The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her.
"And a princess from a foreign land will become the one thing Celaena never thought she'd have again: a friend.
"But something evil dwells in the castle--and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying, horribly, one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival--and a desperate quest to root out the source of the evil before it destroys her world."
Because I'm that awesome, I'll provide a snippet from this book to entice you even more (I hope, anyway!).
She had a terrible headache around her left temple. Everything was sickly and frail. They were so high up, so dangerously high...Chaol stopped before rounding a corner. "You're pale."
She had difficulty focusing on his face as she breathed in and out, in and out. She hated corsets. She hated the king. She hated glass castles.
The days surrounding her capture and sentencing had been like a fever dream, but she could perfectly visualize her trail--the dark wood of the walls, the smoothness of the chair beneath her, the way her injuries still ached from the capture, the terrible silence that had overtaken her body and soul. She had glanced at the king--only once. It was enough to make her reckless, to wish for any punishment that would take her far from him--even a quick death.
"Celaena." She blinked, her cheeks burning. Chaol's features softened. "He's just a man. But a man you should treat with the respect his rank demands." He began walking with her again, slower. "This meeting is only to remind you and the other Champions of why you're here, and what you're to do, and what you stand to gain. You're not on trial. You will not be tested today." They entered a long hallway, and she spied four guards posted before large glass doors at the other end. "Celaena." He stopped a few feet from the guards. His eyes were rich, molten brown.
"Yes?" Her heartbeat steadied.
"You look rather pretty today," was all he said before the doors opened and they walked forward. Celaena raised her chin as they entered the crowded room.
*sigh* This book is soooooo good! Here is some quotes from the book as well:

I give this book...
5 stars!!!!!! The characters are likable and relatable, the villains are villainous, the world that Sarah J. Maas created is beautiful, there is action, mystery, suspense, fantasy, romance, and just...everything. This series is my favorite series, even trumping The Infernal Devices *le gasp*, so that says a lot about how amazing this series is. XP
Thank you for reading, and you should definitely get Throne of Glass and read away!
I've never heard of this one, but you gave it such a thrilling review, I will keep one eye peeled ;)

Currently there are 4 books (Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, and Queen of Shadows), but the fifth book (Empire of Storms) is coming out in September (eeeeeeeeeeeee!). Sarah J. Maas said that she is planning for six books, but there might possibly be a seventh. XD
DeleteWow, that's a lot of books, but I guess that is good! ;P I always want to get through a series very fast when I'm enjoying it, but at the same time I want the series to last forever, ack! ;)
