June Favorites (Books and Music!)

Hey there! So, I feel sucky because I haven't even thought of my blogs in SO LONG! To be honest, I'm surprised that I'm getting as many views as I am (a whopping 3 view today!) on this blog. But I know that you, as readers, have seen this kind of thing a MILLION times when bloggers don't post for a while and make excuse after excuse and promise after promise. Well, I'm making no excuses and no promises related to blogging. It's annoying. However, I can promise that June has been a very amazing month for new releases of books and music, and I've been discovering a lot of new stuff to fangirl over! Now, for the fangirling past of this post!

Music

This month has been filled with new releases from Halsey to Bea Miller to Fall Out Boy, plus I have found some new artists that I am completely obsessed with, such as Troye Sivan. So, here is the music that I have been listening to on repeat this month!

  • "Champion" by Fall Out Boy
  • Hopeless Fountain Kingdom by Halsey
  • The Blue Neighborhood by Troye Sivan
  • "Like That" and "Buy Me Diamonds" by Bea Miller
  • After Laughter by Paramore (yes, this was released last month, but I still listen to it constantly!)
  • "Lowlife" by That Poppy
  • "June Haverly" by Troye Sivan
These are just some of the music that I've been listening to this month, and I really recommend any of these songs to you guys. Just a warning, some of these songs are explicit, so take that into mind.

Books

I have just recently had a reading spree and I've been reading up a storm! (Okay, I've read A LOT more books than just these ones, but I suddenly can't recall any books...) Anyway, I reallllly recommend these books!!!
  • To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
  • Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare (again, this was released in May, but it has just been so big this last month, that I NEED to put it on this list!)
  • Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
So these are some of my June favorites, and I hope you guys check them out! I know these lists were short, but hey, it's better than nothing!

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Review)

~~Blogger's note (is this a real thing? idk): Okay, so I suck at posting. I planned to post this like 5 months ago, but here I am. I even had most of the review done! I just had to do some editing and such before I posted it, so it's just been sitting here as a draft for a REALLY LONG TIME! To be honest, I completely forgot about blogging until like a week ago, when I was about to go to sleep and I thought, "Wait. When was the last time I posted on my blogs?" So here I am now, with spare time on my hands, finishing up this post. Okay, you can resume your reading now.~~

Hey, guys! So I've decided to do two reviews for the ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas (one review for each book that is released so far), because I really want to review A Court of Mist and Fury, which was released May 2016. Of course, I can't just review the second book, so I must review the first book! XD
Bear with me, because my views on this book have drastically changed after reading the second book, ACOMAF. Basically everything you know and love about A Court of Thorns and Roses is smashed to bits, but don't worry, you'll love the changes. Anyway, that's enough about ACOMAF, for we shall save all of that for another time!

I'mma be honest here--I am not a fan of the cover. I don't like the way Feyre looks once you open it. However, the story within the cover...👌
As always, you probably would like to know what this book is about, so this summary is from Amazon:

"When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin--one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin--and his world--forever."

This novel is loosely based on Beauty and the Beast, with twists and turns everywhere that leave you wanting more. I couldn't put this book down the first time I read it and it only took me a few hours before I was left craving the sequel!!! With the romance, action, and amazing plots and characters, A Court of Thorns and Roses is one of my favorite books.

Pros: Like said before, there is plenty of action, has a wonderfully built plot, unique characters that you can't help but fall in love with (RHYS RHYS RHYS RHYS), and the "fiery passion" Feyre feels for Tamlin, this novel leaves you on the edge of your seat wanting more.
Cons: There are a couple scenes in this book that are a little too detailed, if you get what I mean. They involve the two main characters...and their "fiery passion." Also, there are swears, like most other YA books.

The plot was very enticing and left you on the edge of your seat! I love the world that Sarah J. Maas created and all the thought put into the background. The main thing, though, is how wonderfully written the characters are, and I love every one of them! Yes, even the bad guys. Sarah J. Maas really puts everything she has into her books, and it really does pay off big time! Also, it is amazing when you read the second book and realize just how much you miss in the first book, just so you know. ;) I believe that you guys will enjoy this book as much as I have, and hopefully, you can read the first two books in time for the third (A Court of Wings and Ruin) that comes out in May! Thanks for reading, and I commend you on actually keeping up with this blog when even I forgot about it! *waves*

Books on My Wishlist (Plus Updates!!!)

Hello there! To start this post off (which will probably be extremely long), let me get you updated a little.

  • I'm currently working on a review for A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, and I'm also planning on writing another separate review for A Court of Mist and Fury, the sequel. It may take a while, and I may have to reread ACOTAR, because reading the second book has changed a lot of my opinions of ACOTAR.
  • I posted another lyrics video on YouTube about a week ago, maybe? It's the lyrics to "Knocking On My Heart" by Maggie Lindemann, which I found on Spotify and became OBSESSED with it. Here's the link: Knocking On Your Heart by Maggie Lindemann-Lyrics
  • School's starting soon, which means that I'm going to be reading a whole bunch of new books. I know that people usually read more in the summer, but it seems that I am the opposite. I usually don't read very much at all during the summer, and that makes me sad, but I can't force myself to read! On top of that, I got my new smartphone this summer, so I've been spending a lot of time on it. :/ Whelp. Anyway, what that means: MORE REVIEWS! (Hopefully)
  • THE TWENTY ONE PILOTS CONCERT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't mention it in my last post because it was a tag, but the concert was amazing, and I loved it, and it was everything I hoped it would be, and I want to go to another one with better seats. I'd show you videos that I took but
    a) we were very far away, so the camera quality sucks
    b) you can hear me singing, and let's just say that my singing is...bad and
    c) no way am I taking that much time to upload the videos onto my computer.
So yes. I'm labeling this post with "twenty one pilots 2016 concert", because I want to believe that there will be more. :D Also, can we all just take a moment to appreciate "Heathens"? (THEY PLAYED IT, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
  • Does anyone know someone who could design my blogs for free? I want to fully redesign this blog and my other new blog, but I don't know anyone that still designs blogs for free. If you want to recommend someone, PLEASE comment below with their website, or email, or something.
  • I dyed my hair purple last night!!! Actually, it's just about 1/3 of the way dyed from the bottom up, but it didn't really show, so I'm going tomorrow night to get it redyed. So the color will "pop", quoting my stylist.
Okay, with updates done, I'm going to get into the real reason I'm making this post--to tell you what books I want to read in the future! The point, you might ask? Well, the point of this post is so that if you have read any of these books, you can comment down below and tell me which ones you loved/hated, which ones you think I should get a hold of first, and which ones I should write some reviews about because you may also want to read them. Sound good? Let's do this then.

  1. Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, and Maureen Johnson (DO NOT READ DESCRIPTION IF YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES OR ARE PLANNING TO READ THEM)

Epic Reads Tag

Hey fellow fangirls! I'm in the writing mood, so I've decided that I'll do the Epic Reads book tag! It's an older tag, as I did it in the beginning of last year on Lord's Girls, but as I have read a whole lot more books in more than a year, and this blog is specifically for reading, I'll do it again! XD

 The Questions:

  1. If you could invite one author and one of their fictional characters to tea, who would you invite and what would you serve them? I would invite Sarah J. Maas and her character Celaena Sardothien from Throne of Glass, and as Celaena is a HUGE fan of chocolate cake, I'd serve them chocolate cake and of course, some kind of tea. I don't really like tea, so I'm certainly no expert on what would go with chocolate cake. ;P

  2. Which book do you wish an author would write a prequel for? I wish that Tahereh Mafi would write a prequel for her Shatter Me trilogy. I would love to read about Warner when he was younger, or maybe Juliette, or maybe Kenji, or just ALL OF THEM! It would be awesome!
  3. Which two characters (NOT from the same book) would make a good couple? Ugh, I hate this question! It's so hard! (Plus I have absolutely NO idea...) Um, if you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to see them in the comments! XP
    Image result for ?
  4. If you ran into your favorite author on the subway and could only say one sentence to them, who is it and what would it be? It would be Sarah J. Maas, and I would say, "Don't kill my babies!"
Image result for Sarah J. Maas
  5. What book made you a reader and why? I like to say that the Junie B. Jones books made me become a reader when I was young, but as for the reason...*shrug* There was just so many and I made a goal to read all of them (which never did happen, tbh), and before I knew it, I was reading other books from the library.
  6. Incendio! Your bookshelf just caught on fire! What is the one book you would save? Well, first I would probably cry and wonder why God has cursed me so, but then I would save The Assassin's Blade by Sarah J. Maas, because it has all the novellas of before Throne of Glass took place.
Image result for Sarah J. Maas
  7. Which dystopian world would you want to live in and why? I would want to live in The Selection world (by Kiera Cass), because it's probably the best dystopian world that I've read about because it's not really falling apart. XD
  8. What is your most Epic Read of All Time? Can you guys guess? I'll give you a hint: The series was already mentioned above three times! Yep, it's Throne of Glass!!!
So that's it! I had a fun time answering these questions, and if you want to do it too, just comment below and give me the link of your own post, because I would love to see your answers!!!

P.S. Does anybody know of somebody who can design this blog for free? Please and thank you!
